Mud bricks, bright lights and black cats

The last day of the week here and we got in a full day’s work in despite a little rain at Daba late morning. We’ve made very good progress with the planning of the site and only a few areas are yet to be surveyed. The rain shower we had today was quite useful as house/room plans showed up better in the wet ground.

Thursday is the most popular day for weddings here and we’ve been warned that this hotel is very popular as a wedding-party venue – these usually start around 10pm and end in the early hours of the next day and, we know from experience elsewhere, have incredibly loud music! Last Saturday, on our first night here, coloured lights were lit along and across our street, and there were noisy wedding processions late at night, but no actual parties here at the hotel. The same lights are lit up tonight so we’ll have to wait and see what happens later!

Tomorrow being Friday we won’t be working on site but we’ll wait and see what the weather is like (and how much sleep we get tonight!) before deciding what to do. Meanwhile, for those who like cats, here is a gratuitous black one I photographed in the garden at the front of our hotel!
