EES Delta Survey - Trip into the countryside

For the third season running, during March and April 2011, Dr Patricia Spencer, the Society’s Director, will be posting regular updates from the Delta, Egypt.

Trip into the countryside

There were no wedding parties last night (maybe tonight?) so we did get some sleep, and the sun was shining first thing this morning so we went for a drive out of town while the roads were quieter than normal since it isn’t a working day here. Some villages have their suq (market) days on Fridays so are even busier than usual, while others are much quieter. Otherwise we’ve spent the day catching up on recording and doing domestic chores, like washing clothes! Later we’re going to go into the centre of Kafr es-Sheikh for dinner, to try a restaurant recommended to us by Salwa. No cats today, but here are some egrets and goats we saw on our trip around the countryside this morning.
